Jon and the RAs want your input about events! We've had a great start with the BBQ, movie nights, and Universal Studios, and we have lots of things yet to come. For our planning purposes, Jon has created a survey so that you can tell us what events you'd like to see happening this fall. Click here to take survey. The more people who answer, the better planning we can do. Thanks for your input!

Universal Info and Emmys Update

If you decide at the last minute that you want to go to Universal for the bargain basement price of $30, I have some extra tickets. Email me that you're coming so that we wait for you at the main gate.

Everyone who's going to Universal this Sunday should meet at the revolving globe in front of the main gate at 10:15 a.m. Be sure to allow time to drive, find parking, and walk through CityWalk to get to the globe. Your RAs will have your tickets there. We'll walk the red carpet, do the group photo, then take the studio tour. After that, feel free to explore the park on your own! I recommend the Shrek show, the Mummy, Jurassic Park, Waterworld and the special effects show! Animal tricks are also cute, and the Haunted House is vastly improved since I first gave it a try. Everything is chee-zee touristy fun, so keep that in mind!

To get to Universal, carpool (parking is $10/car!) to City Walk. Just turn left out of the main Oakwood entrance, go over the hill, and turn right on Buddy Holly Drive, just BEFORE the bridge over the 101. Follow the signs to City Walk parking. You'll probably be directed to park in Jurassic Parking. Once you're in City Walk, walk through the tourist trap shopping corridor until you see the globe pictured above. That's where we'll gather at 10:15. I'll bring donuts for the first lucky arrivals! Walking to City Walk is not recommended. Get in touch with an RA if you need a ride.

About the Emmy Awards show on Sept 16...I've heard that they're about done with seat filler spots, but you might get red carpet show bleacher seats, so e-mail Michael Francis at seatfillers@emmys.org with your interest and see what he can set you up with.

As always, call my cell or email me with any questions! See you Sunday. -Jon

Are You Ready for Some Football?

NFL Fans... ask and ye shall receive. The Pendleton Center has purchased the NFL Season Ticket! Sundays are about to get very busy here in Suite 305. According to Direct TV, we should be able to access the Season Ticket package from any Direct TV box in the office, which means in theory, all fans can be accommodated (within reason).

So whether you have a passion for Gang Green (bonus points for coolness), or you shout E-A-G-L-E-S in your sleep, you can rest easy that you won't miss a play this season!

SCHEDULE OF GAMES, CHANNELS ETC ARE LOCATED ON THE JOB BULLETIN BOARD.

You are responsible for getting the key from your RA to open up the Pendleton Center on Sundays.

Emmy Awards Seat Fillers

Ok, so we don't have a sure in for seat filler positions, but here's the best I could find:
There are a limited number of positions available to be a Seat Filler for both the Creative Arts Emmy® Awards on Saturday September 8, 2007, and the 59th Primetime Emmy® Awards on Sunday September 16, 2007. To be considered, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 or older for the Creative Arts Emmys, and 21 or older for the Primetime Emmys.

Please be aware that this is NOT a ticket to the show and telecast, but a volunteer position. You will need to submit an application and a photo. For an application, e-mail Michael Francis at seatfillers@emmys.org.

Big Bang Theory (New Sitcom!)

If interested in seeing a taping of this show, email or call me by Friday morning! The taping will be at WB Studios, just across the "river" behind Pendleton, next Tuesday night. Check in is at 6pm, out time is 10:30pm.

Upcoming Events!

Hey guys! I hope everyone had a tolerably good time at the tv taping. Thanks to Sara V for organizing folks as they arrived at Sony since I was slightly lost! (Hey, I had to pick up a stranded student and come to the studio from a different direction!) Also, thanks to the RAs for all your work to make the first BBQ of the semester a hit.

This week, don't forget to turn in your Entertainment Package order forms to your RAs. You can also bring them to me this week when you come to class if you miss your RA. You don't need to purchase each ticket, just indicate which one(s) you want on the form.

Also this week, get ready for another movie night on Wednesday night, and the Universal Studios outing on Sunday. I'll post more details about Univ Studios later this week.

Good luck as you continue interviewing, start your internships and cruise down the hill for classes. Stop in and see me and grab some candy. Oh, I also put a coffee maker in the student kitchen, so if you need a jolt of caffeine,
