Cemetery Screening

Dimples getting old? Oakwood hot tub sound boring? Looking for something new to do this Saturday night? I highly recommend taking in "The Man Who Knew Too Much" at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery! Bring snacks and a blanket, 'cause this is a very popular local event!
  • gates at 7:30 pm, film at 9:00 pm
  • 6000 santa monica boulevard at gower
  • no reservation necessary.
  • $10 tickets available at gate. parking $5.
  • as a courtesy to other movie-goers: no tall chairs.

On holiday in Morocco, Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day learn of an assassination plot, and when kidnappers blackmail them, Stewart must stop the conspiracy without the help of the police. Hitchcock's canonical masterpiece was made at the height of his powers of suspense and with one of his favorite stars. Lush photography, bernard hermann's score and characteristic nail-biting mystery and tension make this one of his best.

dj chris curtis spins before and after the screening.

Hike to Hollywood Sign & Observatory Overlook

Hey everyone, Just wanted to let you know of a great opportunity this weekend to explore two of Hollywood's biggest landmarks. This Sunday we'll pack up some sandwiches in the North Clubhouse around 2:00pm then drive over to the hike. We'll climb up to the sign and enjoy our meal overlooking the city at sunset. Then we'll walk over to the Observatory around 6pm (best known as the Empire State building of LA in terms of breathtaking views) to catch the city all lit up at night. You'll be able to take in the planetarium show, see the planets or possibly the moon up close through the giant telescope and for all you film buffs out there we'll also check out the filming spot for the knife fight scene in "Rebel Without a Cause." It's up to you if you want to do only one event or both, but the two are literally in the same parking lot. Hope to see you all there!

Cinematic Titanic

AND THE LA FILM FESTIVAL PRESENT:

Cinematic Titanic
Ford Amphitheatre
(2008, 80mins)

Saturday, June 21st
8:30PM

From the minds behind the cult classic TV show Mystery Science Theatre 3000 comes Cinematic Titanic, a hilarious combination of comedy and B-movies. As Roger Corman's The Wasp Woman, one of the worst movies you've never heard of, screens behind them, comedian-writer Joel Hodgson and other original MST3K crew members shoot a rapid-fire stream of wisecracks, jokes and general tomfoolery at the screen and each other. For this special performance, Cinematic Titanic will leap off the small screen and riff live at the Ford, turning a dreadful film into a delightful experience.

Never seen Mystery Science Theatre 3000? Take a look at the video below and you'll get an idea of why this show was loved by so many.

Interested in attending this great event? Let Jon know ASAP. We need to know by Wednesday.

The Ford Amphitheatre is just down the road, so it's close.

Tickets are $10
