I Triple Dog Dare you to....

Hey guys,

Christian and I are working with former Ithaca grad Pascal Franchot on a
viral marketing campaign for his (to be filmed) independent feature
“Triple Dog.” The movie centers around people doing dares with their
friends. The viral marketing campaign would involve “home-made” dares
that would look like random people just video-taped them and sent them in.

They would be posted online (youtube, etc.) and have links to the film’s website. If any one out there is feeling adventurous next week on Tuesday or Wednesday (or at a later time) and would like to dare somebody to do something or be dared to do something crazy and/or gross, come to the casting session tomorrow or email myself
or Christian. We have scripted about 15 dares that you can choose from, but we are also open for new dares if you have a good one.

The casting session is on Saturday from 2:30pm until 4:00pm at 6183 Glen Oak Street,
Los Angeles, CA 90068.

Majestic Golf Land this Sunday

Come to the driving range this Sunday 9/23 @ 6 pm. Check out this link for more info.

It's close (10 minutes without traffic, Sunday night shouldn't be too bad for that) and Jon will buy each person 1 bucket of balls. It's $5 to rent 1 club, which sucks, but I will bring my clubs and I'll try to gather some more before Sunday, and then we won't have to deal with that. Worst case scenario, everyone throws down a couple bucks and we can get a few more clubs.

If you're interested, meet at the South Clubhouse at 5:30 this Sunday
and we will carpool to the driving range. Hope to see you there.

(It's during the beginning of the Bears-Cowboys game for those with
that question. I, for one, am willing to sacrifice that to hit a free
bucket of range balls.)

Contact Eli for more details.

And if you're into Korean food, this is the neighborhood to go to!

Los Angeles AIDS Walk - Oct 21

You have an opportunity to see celebs, get free food, have fun with your friends, and raise critical funds for Los Angeles AIDS agencies! First held in 1985, the LA AIDS Walk last year raised over $3.7 million! These funds are critical to the work of AIDS Project Los Angeles and other prevention, education and support services in Los Angeles County.

Fundraising is surprisingly easy, and I'll be offering prizes for our top fundraisers! Even if you can't walk but want to raise some dough for the Walk, you can still join our team. Sara Venturi and I have set a goal of 20 team members and $7000 raised, so join up! If we hit the $7000 goal, I'll dye my hair Ithaca Blue!

Click here for a 10 question HIV/AIDS quiz.

Follow this link to our AIDS Walk teampage to sign up!

Here's last year's team.

Weekly movie night

Hey guys!

Im the dude with the cheap tickets this week. And this week its on Thursday, but the selection is a bit weak. The best one i found was "The Brave One". Yeah, who wants to see that one...? I do, at least for 5 bucks, who ells wants to see it? If im not bombarded with spam and request for another movie, thats the one....the brave one...
The movie starts either at 8pm or 10pm. If no one requests different, im choosing the 8pm slot. So, lets meet up at 7pm outside South Clubhouse on Thursday and well figure out who needs a ride, give out cheap tickets and so on

Have fun interning guys!

Dodgers and Disney

LA Dodgers
I have the Dodgers tickets in my office. Drop by any time with your $5 to pick up your ticket. Game info is: connect with your friends for a ride, or let me know if you need a ride, to the Sept 28th game. Click here for the location and directions. Tailgating is prohibited at the stadium parking lots, just to let you know.

ICLA Day at Disneyland
Sept. 30 is ICLA Day at Disney! Unofficial, but it has a nice ring to it! I'm taking ticket orders now, and here's the deal: Disney has 2 parks, and you can go to one or both on the same day: Disneyland (the original!) and Disney's California Adventures. Click on each park to see what each one offers. You can buy a 1 day/1 park only pass for $35 or a 1 day/2 park "park hopper" pass for $40. Email me or sign up on the RA Board, indicating which ticket you want, by Monday, Sept 24th. You can use your ticket on ICLA Day or any day through the end of the semester. If you want to purchase a ticket for a non-ICLA friend or family member, those prices are $50 for 1-park, $55 for park hopper.

Driving Range and Surfing

Sunday Sept. 23 I'm going on an excursion to the driving range (i'm thinking late afternoon sometime), its a place that has a view of the hollywood sign and apparently automatically tees the balls up for you. Should be interesting. Email, call (413 575 0063), or let me know in person if you are interested, emiddle2@ithaca.edu, or emiddle2@gmail.com

Also, some people have said they would want to go surfing so im looking into renting some boards and camp sites at San Onofre (a bit north of San diego) for a night or so. Email or tell me know if you are interested because I need to know if there are enough people to make it happen. I camped and surfed there previously and its awesome, even if surfing doesnt go so well you can chill at the beach and the campsites are right there. It doesnt matter if you have surfed before or not, you gotta start somewhere. Hope to hear from some of you, take care.

Movie Night - 3:10 to Yuma

Hey everyone!

I'm gonna leading the movie night this week on Wednesday. Since I've been hearing a lot about people needing to see it for class, and well, who wouldn't want to go see a Christian Bale movie, I'll be going to 3:10 to Yuma. There's a 7:25 and a 8:45 showing at the AMC Burbank 16. For the people who would like to go, please let me know which show time would work better for you so we can try to coordinate. Either way, we'll probably meet up outside the south clubhouse 45 mintues-ish before the showtime. I'll have $5 tickets for people who need one.

Happy Monday!
Sara

Update Hiking trip

Allright!! So i did some research today about the trip to the Griffith Observatory and Hollywood sign. Its really nice!

This is what we do;

We meet up at 3pm outside South Clubhouse to figure out who needs a ride and such.

Then well meet up at the bottom of Trail 11 which is on Boy Scout road. This is how i got there today;

Left on Barham blvd, cross the bridge over 101
Left on Cahuenga Blvd which becomes Highland Ave later on.
Left on the upcoming bridge over 101 where Cahuenga Blvd continues
Left on Franklin Ave
Left on Western Ave which becomes Los Feliz Blvd
Left on North Vermont Ave
Follow the signs for the Greek Theater, and just before the Theater you will have Boy Scout road on your left. On the right side there is a restaurant.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=greek+theatre&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wl

When everyone has arrived at the bottom of trail 11, we'll walk up. Should take us about 15minutes.

At the Griffith Observatory you can walk around and see whatever you want. Or just have a snack at the cafeteria and sit outside and enjoy the view.

At 4.30 everyone who wants to go for the hiking to the Hollywood sign must meet up by the huge cone statue just in front of the entrance, you'll see what i mean when you get there. And we'll start the walk!

I talked to the Park Rangers and they estimated about an Hour to get there. Its not allowed to get so close to it that you can touch it, but close enough for a very very (did i say very?) good picture :)

For those who don't want to go for the hike, you can go home whenever you want. Im going for the hike!

If we are not too tired, we might see the Sunset!

Ohhh, did i ever mention that this is a totally free event?? Well it is, all you need is food and water which you always need anyway :)

I hope to see you all!

Griffith Observatory and Hollywood Sign

Hey Guys!!

The Best RA event ever is coming up! (At least one of them...)Hiking and observation in and around Griffith Observatory, includes the Hollywood sign!

This is the plan; Everybody meets up at South Clubhouse Sunday 9th at 3pm. Then we'll drive up to the parking area (details coming up) and we'll walk up to the Griffith Observatory. There we can walk around, see every landscape of LA with telescope and whatnot.

For more information visit http://www.griffithobs.org/

Then, for who ever wants to, can walk a trail down to the Hollywood sign.

Its actually not allowed to get at the sign, but there is a trail that goes down as close as possible. I'm definitely going down there. My suggestions is that for those who want to walk the trail, we should meet up at a certain time at a certain place before we start the walk (accurate time and place coming up later). It might be a bit of a walk, but i like it. And its good exercise!! And we can talk, talk about world peace, the hunger solution and and me.... or you...:)

Drop me a note if you want to come to this (amazing) event, by either call or txt me @ 607 280 0861 or by mail at christianhermstad@gmail.com

I want everyone to come!! I have not met everyone and i bet you haven't met everyone either, so this is a good opportunity! Maybe your future best friend is there! :)

I hope to see you there

Christian

Hiking and Humor

Well, it's been a slow week on the ICLA blogosphere. I hope everyone survived the heat wave by taking part in the soothing, air-conditioned, chlorinated and salt-watered events that your fabulous RAs organized! Christian is planning on an afternoon hike on Sunday in Griffith Park, hopefully up around the Observatory and Hollywood sign. Next week, Sara Venturi is our AMC movie guide. For something a little different, ICLA alum Jason Sheridan recommends the comedy show in Hollywood advertised below. Email the contacts on the flyer to reserve your spot!

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BEACH TRIP TOMORROW!

Trip to Santa Monica. Meet at the SOUTH CLUBHOUSE at 9:15 AM. We will get stuck in traffic. I promise. Hence, we are leaving early. I'll write out non-freeway directions for those that want them cuz the traffic on the freeways is ridiculous! If you decide to come later, we will be seated (facing the beach) to the right of the pier. Call my cell if you can't find us (631-879-3391). Hope to see you all there!

Also! I am trying to see if anyone would like to go see Stardust with me Monday evening. If you are interested in joining, please contact me for details. Thanks!
