OPENING NIGHT SCREENINGS AND PANEL
2006 Maverick Film Achievement Award will be presented to writer/director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby). The award presentation will take place at the ArcLight Cinema at 7:30 p.m. on September 5, 2006.

Following the presentation, there will be a screening and directors panel discussion with George Hickenlooper (Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade), Grace Lee (Barrier Device), Joe Nussbaum (George Lucas In Love), Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S.), Jason Reitman (In God We Trust), and Adrian Grenier (Euthanasia).

Cost for ICLA students: $10 ($25 for non-ICLA guests)

INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS
There are four panel discussions and over ninety short film programs over the course of the festival. Descriptions for all these programs and panels are found on the festival website.

Ticket cost
Short film programs: $10
Panel discussions: $15
Cost for ICLA students: Free if you bring us your receipt for reimbursement for any panel or program you attend.

Interns WANTED!!

Flame Ventures/TV called the Pendleton Center today looking for eager, enthusiastic interns!

Flame is a TV/Motion Picture development company that focuses on Drama/Comedy TV series, Direct to DVD films, reality shows, animated movies, full length motion pictures and internet portals. Tony Krantz is the CEO of Flame. His credits include: Executive Producer of Felicity, 24, Sports Night and PJs.

The internship has been posted on the *new and updated* internship bulletin board, and is listed in the official internship database, entries #1630, 1699, 1700 and 1701.

Universal Studios Outing

Here’s your mini-map and morning logistics.

1. Carpool with your friends.
2. From Oakwood, turn left on Barham Blvd.
3. Go over the hill.
4. Turn right on Buddy Holly Drive, just before the 101 overpass.
5. Follow the signs to Universal Studios Parking ($10/car).
6. Meet in front of the revolving globe at 10:15am.
7. Get your ticket from your RA.
8. Enter park as a group and go to the Hollywood Sign for the group photo.

Allow yourself plenty of time to park and get to the globe by 10:15am to get your ticket!

Rumor has it that the Water World show is terrific!

Our semester group photo at Universal Studios is this Sunday! Participate by purchasing the Entertainment Package for $50 (includes Magic Mountain and a movie pass) or just a Universal Studios ticket for $25.

Film Festival-
AFI Fest 2006 internship involves preparing films for screening, writing film summaries and assisting festival programmers. Email cover letter and resume to programming@afi.com.

Film Production-
Morningstar Films is seeking PA interns for feature film who are bright, hard-working, passionate and can multi-task. Sense of humor is also important! Email cover letter and resume to jobs@morningstarpictures.com.

Commerical and Video Production-

Internship Update!


New internships are flooding the Pendleton Center! In an effort to keep you as up-to-the-date as possible, here's a list of the most recent internships to cross my desk, accompanied by a brief description of each. Along with the database and bulletin boards, this blog will serve as a very useful tool in your ongoing internship search. Good luck!

FILM POST PRODUCTION:
- RHYME AND REASON FILMS, a production company specializing in hip hop and music related documentaries is looking for production interns! Interns should be familiar with or have an interest in: Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Macromedia etc.

PUBLICITY/SPECIAL EVENTS:
- Warner Bros. Distributing Inc. seeks an intern in the Premieres and Special Events department. Interns would work primarily on specific strategic projects pertaining to theatrical releases, talent relations, celebrity recruitment and general logistical details of various events. Participate in brainstorming-team meetings and gain exposure to all parts of Publicity and Special Events!

- The Tyra Banks Show, a daily talk show in its second season, is looking for students to participate in its internship program. The intern program is structured in such a way that interns rotate through different departments. These department include: Production, Web, Clips Clearance, Field and Audience. This is a great opportunity to experience virtually every facet of running a daily talk show.

- RADIANT PRODUCTIONS, director Wolfgang Peterson's production company, seeks student interns in the development department. Interns will handle general office duties, as well as read scripts and write coverage. Other tasks include: completing research projects and seeking out story ideas from books, newspapers, magazines etc. Interns will also have the opportunity to join an internal staff or pitch meeting at the supervisor's discretion.

The faculty and staff of the Ithaca College Los Angeles Program welcome you to sunny California! It might not be sunny when you read this, but wait a few hours, and you won't be disappointed.

Upcoming events to keep in mind are:

Tuesday, August 15:
Orientation from 10:30am til 3:00pm. We start at the Oakwood North Clubhouse and finish at the Pendleton Center after lunch. Bring your orientation binders with you to the Pendleton Center!
We will walk to a taping of The New Adventures of Old Christine after Orientatioin.

Wednesday, August 16:
Orientation from 10:30am til 2:00pm at the Pendleton Center.

Saturday, August 19
Bar-B-Q at the North Clubhouse, 5pm
