Hey everyone,

   Hope you're all settling into the sunshine and fast times that is life in LA.  I wanted to let you in on an event we're having on SUNDAY JUNE 8TH.  We'll be traveling down to what's considered around here as THE place to be at on the weekend: the Santa Monica Pier.  There's soooo much to do down there including an awesome boardwalk filled with shops, a big arcade, a vintage merry go round, an aquarium, tasty Mexican and seafood restaurants, not to mention it's got it's own amusement park with a completely renovated Ferris wheel with a fantastic view of the ocean.  Plus the weather is looking nice so there should be plenty of time for some relaxing fun on the beach.

We'll also be there the same day that the New York Trapeze School has its official opening so who knows what kind of crazy stunts we might see!

  So grab your friends and your beach gear and meet us down at the South Clubhouse at 10am for carpools and directions.

For all TVLand Awards Goers:  Don't worry you won't miss out!  The awards show is down in Santa Monica as well and doesn't need us there until 2pm, so bring your dresses or suits with you and we'll do some touristy fun before the event.

Directions: To get to Santa Monica you'll have to take the I-101N to the I-405S to the I-10W.  Exit the freeway at 4th/5th Street exit.  Go north on 5th St. to Colorado Ave.  Make a left on Colorado Ave and drive straight to the Pier at Ocean Avenue.  If the parking lot is full, make a left on Ocean Avenue and proceed two blocks.  Make a right turn on Seaside Terrace.  Follow the sign to Pier/Beach parking.  Also for a quick look at parking before you leave visit: http://parking.smgov.net/

June 1 Universal Studios Extravaganza

All Universal Studios Go-ers, read this!

We'll meet at 10:15 a.m. at the revolving globe in front of the main gates. I suggest leaving your apartment by 9:30 to allow drive time, find parking, and walk through CityWalk to get to the globe. Your RAs will have your tickets there. We'll walk the red carpet, do the group photo, then take the studio tour. After that, feel free to explore the park on your own. The new Simpsons Krustyland Ride is now open! I also recommend the Shrek show, the Mummy, Jurassic Park, Waterworld and the special effects show. Animal tricks are also cute, and the Haunted House is vastly improved since I first gave it a try. Everything is chee-zee touristy fun, so keep that in mind!

If you intern at NBC or Universal, bring your pass and you'll get free parking! Otherwise, it's $12/car, so carpooling is advisable.

To get to Universal, head uphill on Barham Blvd, go over the hill, and turn right on Buddy Holly Drive just BEFORE the bridge crossing the 101. Follow the signs to City Walk parking. You'll probably be directed to park in Jurassic Parking. Once you're in City Walk, walk through the tourist trap shopping/dining corridor until you see the globe pictured above. That's where we'll gather at 10:15. Get in touch with an RA if you need a ride.

Volunteer at film fests and get internship hours!

10:15am TRIP TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS and SEMESTER PHOTO

Meet at the Universal Studios Revolving Globe in front of the main entrance to the theme park at 10:15am. We will enter the park together as a group at 10:30am sharp! Once we enter the park, we will be taking a group picture for our photo wall. CARPOOL! Parking is $10.00! Please give yourself plenty of time to park your car and meet the group on time (and remember where you parked).

Spring '08 Volleyball Champs

Before the semester is completely gone, I'd like to extend a hearty congratulations to the Crimson Bears for their stellar performance in the ICLA Spring 2008 Volleyball Tournament! It was an amazing day of showmanship, athleticism, and spectacle both on and off the sand courts! Also thanks to Holly for her always enthusiastic refereeing!
